The institute offers 10 day residential courses to students interested in learning Vipassana Meditation. There are more than 100 centres spread across the world where Vipassana is taught in the tradition of Sayagyi U Ba Khin. Vipassana meditation technique is the essence of what the Buddha practiced and taught. Vipassana is a simple, practical way to achieve real peace of mind and to lead a happy practical life. It means to see thing as they really are. Vipassana meditation is a logical process of mental purification through self observation. Vipassana is a technique to strengthen the people to face all the ups and downs in a calm and balanced way. ![]() Accommodation at Dhammagiri Vipassana centre:Private room is accommodated to each person who comes to learn Vipassana. At times the institute offers a single room private cottage. The rooms of the institute are small but comfortable enough for meditation purpose. All the rooms of the institute have attached baths. Hot water is available in the mornings for bathing. The institute also offers laundry facility at modest rates. Dining at Dhammagiri Vipassana centre:The Dhammagiri Vipassana centre serves only breakfast, lunch and high tea. The food that is cooked in the institute is vegetarian, tasty and nutritious. The cuisine at the centre includes North Indian and South Indian. They also serve some sweets occasionally. The institute serves salads and fruits daily. Tea is severed daily in the morning and evening. The institute also includes sugar free items such as milk, tea and dalia. Courses at Dhammagiri Vipassana centre:The institute offers Vipassana, a 10 – day course that requires complete silence from the participant. During this course you are not allowed to get in contact with some via phone, or television. You are not even allowed to communicate with fellow participants. If you have questions regarding your course then you can put these to your tutor in private. It is important for you to understand discipline before you join the course. The course includes suspension of all forms of other mediation therapies, yoga, religious practices or exercises. During this course you are not allowed to read, write or listen anything. One has to commit to refraining from lying, stealing, killing, intoxicants and sexual activity. During your course you have to wake up at 4 am and sleep at 9:30 pm. It is important for students to follow the instructions of their teacher. The course involves structured period of solitary meditation and group meditation. The Vipassana mediation course is taught completely free of cost. At times people who get benefit from this course voluntarily donate money. The teachers of Dhammagiri Vipassana centre are very impressive. The sevaks of the centre were trainees earlier but now they are the contributors to the institute.
