He will then explain in detail the procedure you will be undergoing, what measures need to be taken before the surgery, its risks and recovery time. He will ask you to put on hold your current medication that might enhance risks of blood clotting and bleeding. You’ll be asked to quit smoking and drinking at least 2 weeks prior to operation.

Liposuction Surgery Procedure –

As with other plastic surgery procedures, the basic process remains the same. You are subjected to anesthesia, incisions are made and unwanted fat is removed. However, only surgeon knows the insight of the procedure.

Step1: Local or general anesthesia is registered. Mostly local anesthesia is preferred. Sometimes fluid is also injected.
Step2: Incisions are made at points from where excess fat is to be removed. These are small in size.
Step3: Removing of fat cells from hefty body part involves injection of small tubes, called cannula, through incision into the deep fat layers. This vacuum tube will suction out the fat deposits, along with other fluid and blood. Simultaneous supply of body fluid and blood is given intravenously to preserve body proportion.
Step4: Unlike other surgeries, incisions are left open to prevent swelling and bruising from fluid leakage after the liposuction surgery.

Techniques of Liposuction Surgery:

  1. Tumescent Liposuction – In this large amount of fluid is injected in areas of fat deposits, working as anesthesia and preventing blood loss and fluid, it makes removal of fat easier.
  2. Ultrasound-assisted Liposuction – special ultrasonic vacuum tube is used to liquefy the fat cells rather than suctioning them out, giving higher precision.
  3. Power-assisted Liposuction – Uses high-powered cannula, moving back and forth at speed of 5000 times per minute, to gently remove fat pockets from desired location. It is less painful and shows less bruising after the surgery.

Risks of Liposuction Surgery –

As with all plastic surgery there are risks of bad reaction to medication, excessive healing, and infection. Specific complications of liposuction surgery involves swelling, pigmentation and sagging of skin, dizziness due to loss of fluid, blood clotting, nerve compression among others. You should be aware of complications involved in the surgical process before making a decision.

Recovery Time for Liposuction Surgery –

Patients can resume their routine within a week, excluding strenuous activities. They are asked to wear compression garments to speed up recovery. Swelling will slowly decline and skin will continue to tighten for about 6 months of time, giving required results.

Liposuction surgery is though becoming popular for removal of fats resistant to controlled diet and exercise, it is still not recommended just to enhance your physical looks. Doctors advise you to undergo exercise regime, should you desire losing your fatty looks.
