Meditation is awareness of our inner self by concentrating on a source of consciousness inside us. It helps us to channel our state of mind towards a more positive direction. Meditation is done to attain self-realization.

Spiritual Meditation

Spiritual meditation, however, is slightly different from meditation. In this, the mind is not concentrated as much on our inner consciousness but on a spiritual ideal. It directs our thoughts towards love, happiness, peace or on ideals that represent them. Spiritual meditation helps us to acknowledge the presence of love and beauty in the world while making us realize that these ideals are much greater than the existence of a single person.

Spiritual meditation is when we focus our undivided attention on an entity that helps us in self-realization. It is one of the most relaxing and spiritually rewarding acts that a human mind can practice.

Features of Spiritual Meditation
  1. Spiritual Meditation allows the human being to realize that love is everywhere. It brings about harmony and peace through the acceptance of love.
  2. Through it, the person gets connected with his spiritual side which leads him to believe in an entity that is responsible for this incessant love.
  3. This entity is referred to as God by some people, but here the name loses importance. The only thing that remains of importance is the acceptance of infinite love.
  4. This belief in unending love makes one feel more fulfilled and content.
Spiritual meditation v/s Meditation
  1. While spiritual meditation deals with realization of unending love, meditation refers to contemplating on your inner self. Meditation is a way of relaxing our mind and body and accepting to let go of things that are beyond our control.
  2. While both are helpful in different aspects of our lives, it's easy to get confused by them. Both have a cleansing and healing effect on our body and mind, both help us to realize the true meaning of our lives, and both help us to fight negative feelings within us.
  3. At times, when we particularly feel burdened by something, spiritual meditation may help us to recognize love around us, while meditation prepares us to deal with those burdens.
How to practice Spiritual Meditation
  1. The first and foremost point to be considered is to understand that you must not rush into learning spiritual meditation. You must learn to trust the entity, or God, whatever you may like to call it.
  2. During this time you must try to meditate without using a focus. You must try to exercise your imagination to the point where you can see vivid images of what you are concentrating on. Take out some time daily to sit and be still.
  3. When you will start visualizing this object, the teacher that you are seeking, will appear in front of you. You will then realize who or what was this entity on which you had been focusing all this while.

Spiritual meditation is an exhilarating and supernatural experience. It will make you appreciate the world as well as yourself much more.
